Entire migrant families being released without court dates or papers

The madness continues on the southern border, particularly in Texas. We’ve already seen all of the horror stories of unaccompanied children being tossed over a ten-foot border wall by coyotes, leaving them on the ground for CBP to find. But now some of the immigration enforcement agents are reportedly too overwhelmed by the numbers to do even the minimal amount of processing work. According to an Associated Press report, entire families have been turned loose, not only without a court date but without any paperwork at all. Some haven’t even been fingerprinted or had their identity verified. So I take it we’re just working on the honor system now?

Overwhelmed and underprepared, U.S. authorities are releasing migrant families on the Mexican border without notices to appear in immigration court or sometimes without any paperwork at all — a time-saving move that has left migrants confused.

The rapid releases ease pressure on the Border Patrol and its badly overcrowded holding facilities but shifts work to Immigration and Customs and Enforcement, the agency that enforces immigration laws within the United States. Families are released with booking records — when they get paperwork at all — though only parents are photographed and fingerprinted.

The Border Patrol began the unusual practice last week in Texas’ Rio Grande Valley, which has seen the biggest increase in the number of migrant families and unaccompanied minors crossing the border. Last week, the agency added instructions to report to an ICE office within 60 days to adults’ booking documents.

Some of the illegal aliens were giving interviews to reporters at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission, Texas. In what seems like something out of an episode of Black Mirror, Carlos Enrique Linga expressed his frustration at not being given any documents by the CBP after waiting for a week. He had turned to the church for help. Linga said, “We hope they can help with our papers so that we can move on, work and send money to my family. The church has told us that there are mistakes sometimes. Because there are so many people, they forget.”

They “forget?” This is simply incredible. This guy has entered the country illegally, which is already a crime. He’s clearly stated that he plans to go to Tennessee where a friend of his lives and get a job. (Which is also illegal.) But instead of hiding out and worrying about being detained and deported, he’s giving interviews to the mainstream media and complaining about the lack of documentation service he’s getting from our immigration agents.

Somebody made the decision to have the CBP start releasing all of these people without even finding out who some of them are, to say nothing of arranging a court date to determine if they need to be deported. We’ve already been assured that it wasn’t Kamala Harris, because she’s not involved with the activity at the detention centers, even though she’s supposedly “in charge.” Jen Psaki has told us that the Department of Homeland Security and HHS are in charge of the situation on the border (as if Joe Biden has nothing to do with it either.) So who came up with this brainstorm?

I’m old enough to remember a time when illegal aliens trying to jump the border into our country at least had the decency to run and hide from the Border Patrol and ICE. That was way back in… January. But now the word is out on the streets in Mexico and the Northern Triangle countries. There’s a new boss in charge up in the Estados Unidos, and the gates are open. Come on in. The water’s fine. And no need to worry about being sent home. Even if you have an outstanding murder warrant or have done time for sexually assaulting children, you might still be okay. If you catch them during the right work shift, they won’t even ask who you are.

This isn’t a border control policy. It’s surrender.
