Has your kindergartner gotten their transgender orientation yet?

Just how much information do five and six year olds need to have on controversial social issues or matters involving sex? Some parents out in California may not be sure of the precise answer, but plenty of them were upset when they learned that “education” for their kindergarten children included a session discussing transgender issues, complete with books targeting that age group. And it was done with no parental consultation in advance. After many of the confused (and in some cases frightened and crying) tykes came home and spilled the beans, their parents showed up to the Rocklin Academy school board meeting in Rocklin, California demanding answers. The Rocklin Academy school board is facing tough questions from parents concerned over a controversial incident involving transgender discussions inside a kindergarten class.

“These parents feel betrayed by the school district that they were not notified,” said Karen England with the Capitol Resource Institute.

The incident happened earlier this summer during the last few days of the academic school year. At Monday night’s board meeting, the teacher at the center of the controversy spoke out. With emotions high, she addressed a packed house.

“I’m so proud of my students, it was never my intent to harm any students but to help them through a difficult situation,” she said.

Reading the full CBS report, this was much more than just “a discussion.” The teacher brought out a couple of books, including the one titled, “I am Jazz.” (They also made a television series out of that one. And as a side note, I would just like to thank the creators so much for that. My friends have simply had no end of fun pointing this out to me.)

If the promotional materials weren’t enough, the “discussion” also featured a kindergarten boy leaving the room and suddenly coming back into the room dressed as a girl. One parent is quoted as saying, “My daughter came home crying and shaking so afraid she could turn into a boy.”

Even if this were an appropriate topic for education (which we’ll get to in a moment, believe me) there are common sense guidelines as to the appropriate age for such things and the absolute necessity for having the parents involved in such decisions. Topics such as sex education can certainly wait a bit longer than five or six and only the parents can determine when that’s appropriate. The same thing applies to discussions of sensitivity toward gay students. Nobody in Kindergarten is thinking about what gender they’re attracted to.

But this debacle ups the ante quite a bit. Aren’t schools supposed to be focused on actual education? And does the Rocklin Academy teach science when the kids are a bit older? At least sexual intercourse is a real concern for young people as they grow. Similarly, some of them may turn out to be gay or, at a minimum, will be interacting with gay people. If the parents are consulted and the material is developed in an age appropriate fashion schools can clearly tackle these subjects. But what will the school tell them about all of this education into “transgenderism” when there is not one iota of scientific evidence to so much as suggest that you are anything other than the gender defined by your chromosomal structure? And just for the record, “sex” and “gender” are interchangeable in this application no matter how hard the Left tries to hijack the language.

This wasn’t a mistake or some type of misunderstanding. This is clear cut indoctrination of the youngest and most vulnerable in our society. And this should be a firing offense for that teacher.
