Endorsement: Debbie Wasserman-Schultz for Florida's 23rd district

We spend an inordinate amount of time analyzing the various endorsements coming in for the presidential race, but let’s not forget that there are literally hundreds of congressional seats being decided this fall. And before we get to the general election, most of these candidates will need to make it through a primary battle. One of these which should be of particular interest is the race for Florida’s 23rd congressional district, where the Democrats will hold their primary election on August 30th. The incumbent, DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, is in a battle against Tim Canova, a man who recently received the endorsement of Vermont Senator and presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.

Canova is putting up a spirited fight, recently charging that Debbie was the person who brought lobbyists back into the DNC fold. He’s attracting plenty of money and national media attention, particularly considering that this race was originally thought to be essentially a rubber stamp for the incumbent. This race has implications not only for the voters of the 23rd district, but for the nation as a whole. With that in mind, it’s time for all of us to pick a side, and I would like to come before you today and offer my wholehearted endorsement of Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. And I’m not the only one, by the way. She’s also received a thumbs up from The Tea Party Express. (Washington Times)

Tea partiers have had so much success during Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s tenure as head of the Democratic National Committee that they apparently want her to stick around.

The Tea Party Express announced in jest Wednesday that it is backing Mrs. Wasserman Schultz’s push for re-election in Florida’s 23rd congressional district against Tim Canova, who the tea party group branded a “liberal extremist … endorsed by Democrat/Socialist Bernie Sanders.”

“While both Wasserman Schultz and Canova share extreme liberal views that are damaging to American prosperity, the scales tip for us to endorse Wasserman Schultz because conservatives and the tea party have thrived during her tenure as DNC Chairman,” said Taylor Budowich, executive director of the Tea Party Express.

Hear, hear! Taylor Budowich is correct. Debbie is not only the best choice for Florida Democrats, but for Republicans and conservatives around the nation and we should all get on board with her candidacy. There have been few people working on the D side of the aisle who have done so much for the conservative cause in recent history as the DNC chair. She’s on cable news shows on pretty much a daily basis and regularly manages to fumble the ball so badly that she can breath life into even the most hopeless conservative cause.

Examples of this phenomenon are legion, but just this winter she had one notable moment when it was announced that South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley had been chosen to deliver the response to President Obama’s State of the Union address. At that time, Allen West picked up the trail of bread crumbs.

“It’s pretty clear that Nikki Haley is being chosen because the Republican Party has a diversity problem,” Wasserman Schultz, who’s also a Florida congresswoman said in a conference call, according to The Hill, which reported:

Haley, who was born in South Carolina, is the daughter of immigrants from India. She will be delivering the GOP’s official response to President Obama’s final State of the Union Tuesday night.

Debbie Downer was, of course, making accusations of a lack of diversity toward the most diverse field of presidential candidates fielded by either party in the history of the nation. The GOP hopefuls included both male and female, white, black and Hispanic contenders ranging in age across a thirty year span and coming from both the public and private sectors. At the same time she was promoting a Democratic lineup which was realistically comprised of two elderly white people who are career politicians. These are the types of laugh out loud moments which Wasserman-Schultz has always delivered and they make the jobs of Republican strategists far, far easier while also providing endless material for conservative bloggers looking to fill up a slow news cycle.

Let’s all get behind Debbie Downer in her bid for not only another term in Congress, but as the leader of the DNC. It’s right for conservatives. It’s right for America.
