This week on Politinerds we speak with author and presidential historian Jon Meacham. We talk to Jon about his new book, Destiny and Power: The American Odyssey of George Herbert Walker Bush. For those of you who fondly remember Bush 41, you’ll probably like the many stories Jon has to tell, including the experience of interviewing many members of the Bush clan. His previous books were about presidents long since dead and gone, and he shares the experience of having to write some less than flattering details of a lengthy career which the subject was alive to read when it was released.

Jon also shares with us some of his impressions of the current race and whether or not American politics is actually “nastier” than it was in bygone days. His perspective is enlightening and he was quite generous with his time. Let us know what you think.
