This week on Politinerds we spend a fair amount of time talking to Jimmy LaSalvia, co-founder of the now defunct GoProud and author of the upcoming book, NO HOPE: Why I Left the GOP (and You Should Too).

We spent a brief time talking about Jimmy’s upbringing in the south and how he wound up getting into conservative politics. But the conversation quickly moved to some of the topics under discussion in this election season and his hopes for “expanding the GOP tent” further in 2016. Unfortunately that got us into the gay marriage thing which led to a bit of a spat when I argued that gay activists were damaging religious liberty in the wake of the Supreme Court decision, but we eventually moved on. Jimmy also talks about his new book, where he’s heading next and why he thinks the country either needs a lot of political parties or perhaps no parties at all.
