Politinerds: Andrew Malcolm

PolitinerdsHotAir

This week Doug and I got the chance for an extended interview with Andrew Malcolm, currently writing at Investors Business Daily. Many of you are familiar with the Prince of Twitter from his regular commentary on the issues of the day with Ed Morrissey, but the subject this week was Andrew himself and his rather incredible history as a journalist. Not only is he a Pulitzer nominated reporter, but did you know he is the author of nearly a dozen books, many of which were made into movies and television programs? Andrew walks us through his colorful career which began when he worked as a clerk at the New York Times the year I was born. (Hint: Ike was still President at the time.) He’s been a foreign correspondent covering multiple wars, the bureau chief in Tokyo and was one of the first bloggers in the nation at the LA Times. He also veered off and worked directly in the political arena for a time and describes his close relationship with the Bush family. His stories include diverse experiences such as interviewing a Flemish farmer at the site of the Battle of Waterloo. He’s had a long and storied career which continues full time to this day and we hope you enjoy learning about his history, as well as his observations about how news coverage has evolved over the last half century.
