Well, every talking head on the planet has been telling us that the GOP field was “not settled yet.” We’ve also been assured that “Republican voters don’t like their choices.” You know how it is. You’re all waiting for that one perfect bowl of porridge: not too hot, not too cold. A mattress which is neither too soft nor too firm. Clearly that day has arrived.

No, we’re not talking about a barracuda or a Jersey Devil. It’s Buddy Roemer.

It’s official: Buddy Roemer will formally announce his presidential campaign Thursday from New Hampshire.

While the former Louisiana governor’s campaign has not set a location for the announcement, he’s scheduled to speak at Dartmouth College that afternoon as part of a national politics series.

“We’re ready to move forward,” said Roemer’s newly-minted campaign director, Carlos Sierra. “He’s one of the first candidates to file his exploratory committee, and now we’re one of the last, if not the last, to make it official.”

I’m sorry… not to pick nits here, but did you really hire somebody who said you might be the last person to enter the race? Were all the other dryers full at the laundry?

Were I not already busily engaged in handicapping tomorrow’s races for Snake Derby Magazine I’d probably get into this further, but this is one case on a Monday night when we should leave it to the Hot Air faithful and just paste in a few of your comments as updates to flesh things out before the end of the day. What say you? Is Buddy the vision across the desert so many of you have been waiting for?

Buddy is a good guy and certainly a private industry advocate, BUT…. He was a one term governor, in large due the oil bust in Louisiana during the mid 80′s, where the state had ridden a boom of tax receipts from oil & gas production. Additionally, he became somewhat of an envirowhacko while in the governor’s mansion.

Then he ended up losing to noted Klansman, David Duke and Edwin Edwards (vote for the crook it’s important).

This primary is going to be a like a freaking salad. How many nuts can we throw in to the base and then pour on the ranch…. cause everything is good in ranch.
