Trump to launch reelection bid on four-year anniversary of 2016 kickoff

Descending a gold escalator in Trump Tower on June 16, 2015, Donald Trump announced that he was running for president. Now, nearly four years later, President Trump is reportedly planning on launching his 2020 reelection campaign around that same date.

Despite June 16 landing on Father’s Day this year, Trump has made it clear in conversations that he considers that to be the official launch date for his effort to remain in the Oval Office, according to Axios.

Trump plans to surround the reelection launch with a cluster of rallies across the country, holding events in swing states in an attempt to dominate the news cycle. His reelection launch will draw some attention away from Democrats.
