“OOPS: When 26-year-old Matthew Joseph Erris decided to play cop, turn on his red and blue lights and pull somebody over, he had no idea the other driver was a REAL undercover HCSO detective! Deputies did a REAL traffic stop on Erris,” the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook.

Authorities say Erris had a “realistic looking” airsoft pistol and a law enforcement light bar installed on top of his SUV.

Deputies say it’s still unclear whether Erris has committed similar offenses in the past. Anyone who recognizes his vehicle and believes they may have been a victim should contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
