Attack of the conservative snowflakes

The terror attacks in Sri Lanka, where over 300 people died in a series of bombings that targeted churches as well as luxury hotels, are not only a horrific human tragedy but a powerful reminder that Islamist terrorism (in this case, by a group known as National Thowheeth Jama’ath) remains a real and present danger. Unfortunately, this awful story has also generated one of the silliest online outrage moments: the controversy over the term “Easter worshipers.”

It started with these tweets from Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton:

Several other Democrats used the same formula.

Cue the outrage.

On Fox News, Jesse Watters mocked this language as liberal “pandering to Muslims”: “They didn’t use ‘Christians.’ They didn’t say ‘a lot of churches.’ They actually said ‘Easter worshipers were under attack.’ You don’t call Muslims ‘Ramadan worshipers.’ You don’t call Jews ‘Passover worshipers.’ It’s a made-up phrase.”
