Dems’ suit alleging Trump’s private business is violating the Constitution can proceed, judge rules

The judge ruled that the Democrats have legal standing to sue President Trump, rejecting a challenge from the president. The lawsuit alleges that Trump, by continuing to do business with foreign governments while in office, violates the Constitution’s emoluments clause.

Although Trump has given up day-to-day management of his businesses, some properties that he still owns benefit from investments or business from foreign governments, particularly his D.C. hotel, which has hosted leaders from Kuwait, Malaysia and other countries.
