Hillary Clinton supports President Barack Obama’s decision to send special operations forces into Syria, her campaign said Friday.

Clinton “sees merit in the targeted use of special operations personnel to support our partners in the fight against ISIS, including in Syria,” spokesman Nick Merrill said in a statement. The former secretary of state still opposes U.S. involvement in a ground war in the region, Merrill added.

The announcement came hours after Obama said his administration will deploy fewer than 50 people to Syria.
