New head of Congressional Hispanic Caucus: Obama's amnesty should have been bigger

Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-Calif.), who will lead the group of Latino lawmakers next year, said she would give Obama a B+ for how he has handled immigration during his six years in office.

“There are areas in which we obviously would have liked to see more done on immigration,” Sanchez said in an interview for C-SPAN’s “Newsmakers” that airs Sunday. “Clearly, the president is limited by certain legal precedents, but we think overall he’s been very receptive on that issue.”…

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus would have liked to see more sweeping actions, such as protecting an even bigger class of immigrants. Back in March, the CHC was on the verge of approving a resolution taking a tough line against the Obama administration on deportations, but held back after they met with Obama and he announced a review of his administration’s immigration policies.
