“There is no specific timeline,” said Mark Miner, a spokesman for Perry. “A decision will most likely be made in the next several weeks.”
Perry has said he’ll sit down and consider entering the race after the conclusion of the special session. That wrapped up last week, and, following some minor back surgery, Perry will begin to look more seriously at the possibility of running.
Recent polling suggests he could make a strong entry; A McClatchy-Marist poll last week pegged the Texas conservative as a top choice of Tea Party voters.
