Trump Responds to Lindsay Clancy Clemency Request

President Donald Trump on Sunday rejected the request from Lindsay Clancy’s defense attorney to get involved in the case or pardon his client, who has admitted to killing her three young children.

While the president framed the case as a tragedy and Kevin Reddington as a good lawyer, Trump noted that Clancy is facing state charges, suggesting he couldn’t intervene even if he wanted to.

“It’s a very sad situation. … There is no winner there — there’s no win no matter what you do; three children are dead,” Trump told the press. “It’s actually a state situation, not a federal.”

The reporter followed up by telling Trump that Reddington wanted the president to pressure the state prosecutor. “Would you do that?” he asked.
