America is growing, investing, and competing in ways that will require substantially more electricity than we have needed in decades.
New manufacturing facilities are coming online. Artificial intelligence and data centers are expanding rapidly. Communities continue to grow, and businesses of every size depend on reliable electricity to operate.
All of that is good news for the American economy. But it also raises an important question: Do we have the energy infrastructure needed to support that growth?
The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) latest national assessment found a pressing need for additional transmission infrastructure, driven by growing electricity demand from data centers, domestic manufacturing, large industrial users, and the broader economy.
Meeting that demand requires more than generating enough electricity. We also have to be able to move it.
