For all the talk about the U.S. press’s propensity for sensationalism, we’ve nothing on Canada.
Those hosers are unhinged.
Consider the following: Throughout President Trump’s contumelious and outright belligerent effort to acquire Greenland, the Canadian press have indulged in lurid nationalist fantasies, frequently warning that the Great White North might soon have to defend itself against a U.S. invasion.
Look at the headlines from this month alone:
“SURVEY – AMERICAN INVASION IMMINENT? OVER HALF OF CANADIANS THINK A CANADIAN INVASION LIKELY AFTER VENEZUELA OCCUPATION,” a syndicated Canada Newswire headline declared recently.
Meanwhile, the Globe and Mail published an editorial titled, “In the age of Trump, it’s time to think about the unthinkable,” with the “unthinkable” being a U.S. invasion.
Earlier, the CBC aired an entire segment built around the “expert” assessment that “Canada should be prepared for possible military coercion from the United States.”
