Reciprocity, Constitutional Carry, and Transgenders, Oh My!

On one issue, the left continues losing ground more than any other, despite aggressive media propaganda, academic indoctrination, and institutional hostility: the Gun Rights Movement. I don’t say “Second Amendment rights” anymore. Gun rights activists have often corrected me: we do not have “Second Amendment” rights, because the Second Amendment is a proscription on the government not to violate our natural, God-given right to keep and bear arms.

Despite the mass shootings, despite the onslaught of guilt trips and public shaming from our corrupted, though weakened, elites, the fight for the Second Amendment has never looked better.

Even in Florida, where the Parkland shooting forced red flag laws and gun purchase limits in a GOP trifecta state, the legislature has advanced more pro-gun legislation, even finally getting the Sunshine State into the Constitutional Carry club (more on that later).

Twenty-nine states have joined the constitutional carry club, and if North Carolina Republicans can get their act together, the Tar Heel State will join, too. The legislation passed both chambers, but the Democratic governor vetoed it. So far, the state senate has overridden the veto. In the House, Republicans are one vote short of a supermajority, but a few House Democrats have crossed over to assist the GOP with other override votes. The legislation initially passed the House, but thirteen members were absent or abstained from voting. If those thirteen show up and vote, NC will be a Constitutional Carry State #30!
