An American Airlines flight destined for Phoenix was forced to land at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) on Saturday after a passenger’s device reportedly caught fire.

American Airlines Flight 357 landed safely at Dulles at around 11:50 a.m. after the crew reported a fire in one of the passenger rows, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
In a statement to DC News Now, an American Airlines spokesperson said smoke was spotted coming from “a customer’s device” and that the crew “quickly contained” it before landing.
