Cue the Violins: A MInnesota Father in Search of Hope

Rivas, now age 24, had previously been convicted of this crime in Texas back in December 2019, having been deported in July 2019. Today marked his third, overall, courtroom conviction for illegal immigration, and second felony.

His upcoming deportation, back to his native Ecuador, will mark his third such deportation to Ecuador, in addition to another deportation to Mexico in 2020.

Mr. Rivas has been in federal custody since his arrest in mid-May and he was sentenced today to time served. He is a participant in the federal Fast Track program.

Government records show that Rivas incorporated a construction business in Minneapolis in 2023. A new father, our Minnesota Dad is said (by his defense lawyer) to have come to America (repeatedly) “in search of hope.” He came to America (three times, and counting) “to escape the crushing poverty and lack of opportunity in his native country.”

We are told that Rivas’ May 2025 arrest occurred “on his way to the bank.” He was “swept up” off the street to bolster Trump’s “statistics,” part of the “ongoing purge of undocumented people from this country.”

We are told that he “has led a quiet, hardworking life without causing any issues.” Well, if you ignore three previous deportations and a previous felony conviction.

I have a piece coming out Monday about the two different Americas: the Truman Show where Rivas is a hardworking dad just trying to get by and get his piece of the American Dream, and the felon who preys on Americans and refuses to get the message that his felonious butt isn't wanted here.
