Ayotte Signs Bills Blocking Gender-Affirming Care for Minors

Gov. Kelly Ayotte has signed into law two bills aimed at blocking gender-affirming care for minors.

House Bill 377 bans puberty blockers for children if they're used as part of gender-affirming care. Puberty blockers and other hormone therapies can still be used to treat certain medical conditions in young patients.

The new law requires that anyone seeking a gender transition wait until they're 18 to use puberty-blocking medications.

Chris Erchull, senior staff attorney with GLAD Law, said banning puberty blockers for gender transitions in children will only hurt transgender youth in New Hampshire.
