The project—which relied on eminent domain lawsuits to take land from unwilling property owners—was a centerpiece of the Biden Administration’s failed green energy agenda.
Not anymore.
By pulling the plug on this Biden last-minute deal, the Trump Administration has sent a clear message: the federal government will not bankroll projects that steamroll families, seize land, and hide behind climate rhetoric as its justification. The questions around the Grain Belt Express were always more numerous than the answers. Billed as a green energy transmission line stretching over 800 miles across the Midwest, the project was never designed to benefit most of the communities it would upend. Its purpose is to export wind power from western Kansas to distant utilities and corporate data centers—while landowners in the heartland shouldered all the disruption and little, if any of the reward.
