One reason why I never have active volcanoes on my bucket list of places to visit. 

Having been caught unexpectedly but safely at a distance in Guatemala City during an eruption was the thrill of a lifetime from the penthouse bar. And watching Vesuvius simmer in the distance from Pompeii was close enough.

But I'm afraid I don't move fast enough to get out of the way of what my bad luck would bring me if I taunted it as a 'let's climb the slopes and check out the steaming caldera' tourista.
