Own Worst Enemies: Witnesses Uncooperative After Gunman Kills Victim

Witnesses were uncooperative after a man was shot and killed during an argument on a River North sidewalk overnight. The gunman remains at large.

Chicago cops were less than a block away when the shooting occurred in the 500 block of North Franklin at 3:15 a.m. They immediately called out shots fired and quickly found the 31-year-old victim. He had suffered seven gunshot wounds, according to an officer at the scene.

In a media statement, CPD said the victim and another man had an argument that turned physical before the offender pulled out a gun and fired several shots, striking the victim in the chest.

The gunman escaped on foot, police said, but CPD did not release a suspect description.
