Congress Approves Bill to Teach US Schoolkids About Evils of Communism

Cuban-American Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar has successfully pushed a bill through Congress that should make it very difficult for leftists on the local and state level to oppose teaching the truth about communism to schoolchildren in the U.S. Naturally, there will be challenges. It’s inevitable, given the extreme leftist lean of American higher education, where all teachers receive their training.

But at least there is now a firm legal foundation that should deflect such challenges. A companion version of the bill has been introduced in the U.S. Senate. The vote was a lopsided 327-62 with 43 abstentions. Surprisingly, 28 of the nay votes were cast by Republicans. Not surprisingly, 48 of the nay votes came from the Congressional Black Caucus and the Congressional Progressive Caucus. To see how the House voted on this bill go HERE

 Today, the House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed H.R. 5349, Rep. María Elvira Salazar’s (R-FL) Crucial Communism Teaching (CCT) Act in an enormous 327-62 vote. Senators John Kennedy (R-LA) and Rick Scott (R-FL) introduced the companion version in the Senate.
