Did Abortion Ballot Measures Backfire on Democrats?

So Harris gained only a muted advantage on abortion rights and lost, even as abortion rights continued to perform well on ballot measures across the country.

One prominent theory suggests that perhaps those two things are related. It holds that Democrats’ move to put abortion rights on the ballot in 10 states — something they had hoped would juice Democratic turnout and keep the focus on the issue — might have actually backfired.

Read it all, but I wonder if the analysis here looks at the wrong election. Duane and I will debate whether we saw a "red wave" or a Trump wave in tonight's Week in Review, and the reason is the lack of any real movement in House races. I wonder whether those measures shored up House Democrats in these states, but I don't wonder enough about it to do a deep dive. 

At any rate, Democrats in the presidential race obsessed over the wrong issue ... although with Harris as the nominee, they may not have had many other issues to use.
