Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen says that in order for the U.S. to transition to a “carbon-free” economy by 2050 to meet emission reduction goals, it will require $3 trillion in financing each year.

That's $75 trillion in total for 2025-50. 💰
How much would that cost you, you… pic.twitter.com/HDF8IHavOo
...How much would that cost you, you might ask?
Let's work this out using some back-of-the-envelope calculations.
There are roughly 260 million adults in the U.S. This means that there are, at most, that many taxpayers [I know it's probably less than that].
If we distribute that $75 trillion evenly, that works out to a beautiful $288,461.54 per person.
The cost of “net zero” is over a quarter million dollars per taxpayer. That's a quarter of a million dollars out of your pocket to finance the decarbonization of the U.S. economy by 2050, which when it's all said and done, will have absolutely no effect on the weather or global mean surface temperature.
Are any of you Net Zero Nancys willing to foot the bill for this transition?
I bet not.
