Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe allegedly called Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) Wednesday to complain about his whistleblower reports and requests for information, while refusing to cooperate with Congressional oversight of his agency.
As a member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC), Senator Hawley has received numerous whistleblower allegations surrounding the attempted assassination of former President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13, and has sent Secret Service Director multiple letters requesting information. The senator said Rowe has declined to “substantively” address any of the allegations.
In a series of posts on X, Hawley shared details about his conversation with Rowe, and his mounting frustration with the director’s stonewalling.
“I just had an extraordinary conversation with Director Rowe at the Secret Service, who called me personally to dispute a whistleblower allegation – but refuses to respond in writing,” Hawley wrote Wednesday afternoon. “Just as he has declined to respond substantively to ANY of the whistleblowers’ allegations.”
