A kangaroo court in communist Cuba has sentenced independent journalist Yeris Curbelo Aguilera to prison this week for reporting on the growing number of anti-government protests spreading across the island. He was beaten by Cuban State Security thugs and now faces 2 years in a Castro gulag.

The Cuban dictatorship prioritizes imprisoning dissidents in inhumane conditions over pursuing violent criminals.
Cuban journalist Yeris Curbelo Aguilera was sentenced to two years in prison on September 24, 2024 following a two hour trial in the Niceto Pérez Municipal Court in the Province of Guantánamo with irregularities that fell short of international standards to restrict his work in support of press freedom in Cuba. He was immediately taken to the Guantánamo Combinado prison by State Security agents.
