She continued, “There’s been times when I didn’t know how to protect myself, and I think I was definitely a victim of secondary trauma from being inundated with these stories and knowing that they were true. Those were the parts that I didn’t know how to metabolize, just because of the sheer volume of it.”

I understand what she's saying, but ... she's also incredibly well paid for it, too. Most actors don't have the fortune (in all senses of the word) to have a 20-year-plus gig. I don't think that many actors would consider that traumatic at all, nor would they gripe about the "patriarchy" that hired them in the first place, as Hargitay does later.
