Woman Arrested in Portland, ME had Enough Fentanyl to Kill Half the City

A joint operation by the Portland Police Department and Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) led to the arrest of a 35-year-old woman on drug trafficking charges and the seizure of nearly 90 grams of fentanyl.

According to Portland Police, officers with the department’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and MDEA agents made the arrest on Sherwood Street in Portland at about 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, as the result of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

Nichole Staples, 35, of Portland, was charged with unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs and violating conditions of release.

At the time of her arrest, Staples also had nine warrants out for her arrest, police said.
