More and more, the UK has opted to prosecute people for stupid things. When it sparks outrage, charges get dropped, but it should never have happened in the first place.
Then, to kick it up a notch, authorities there think they can enforce their rules on Americans and others outside of their borders. ...
In other words, if the UK authorities believe that your words are “provoking hatred and violence” then they’ll try to come after you no matter where you live.
Now, I seem to remember our Founding Fathers signing a little document back in 1776 that basically said we were done giving a damn what the British authorities had to say about anything. Then we shot a whole bunch of British authorities that stayed here to try and enforce their will upon us.
