In other words, someone remembered that most people aren’t living in the Hollywood brain cloud and can actually think. They’re not interested in spending money on a film that they think is going to lecture them.
Deadpool and Wolverine didn’t.
And let’s note that this is in spite of what many have called “Superhero fatigue.” It’s not that people are sick of superheroes. They’re sick of bad storytelling.
See, what typically happens is that a franchise is built up on the back of good storytelling, only for the fringe elements to roll in and try to coopt the franchise. People love the franchise, they figure, so they can use it to advance the message.
It’s called skin suiting in honor of David Burge’s tweet from 2015 where he correctly noted how the left does things.
