Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg slammed Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, for comments the Republican vice presidential nominee made in the past about "childless" Democrats.
Buttigieg, who adopted twins with his husband, Chasten, made his comments Tuesday on CNN's "The Source."
"The really sad thing is, he said that after Chasten [Buttigieg] and I had been through a fairly heartbreaking setback," Buttigieg said in the interview, highlighted by Mediaite. "He couldn't have known that, but maybe that's why you shouldn't be talking about other people's children."
In the recently resurfaced clip, Vance said that "the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children," and pointed to well-known Democrats, including Buttigieg, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.
