A family of martial arts teachers was lauded by Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez Wednesday, after they stepped in to help a woman being assaulted near their Katy-area business.

In a post on X, Gonzalez said a group of instructors from the Yong-In Tae Kwon Do studio, on Fry Road in west Harris County leapt into action after hearing yelling next door to their business.

When they investigated, the group found a man "attempting to sexually assault a female," Gonzalez said. The instructors pulled the woman away, and then defended themselves against the man, who had turned on them, Gonzalez said.

"By utilizing their training and discipline, they managed to stop the assault and hold him," Gonzalez wrote. They were still holding him down when deputies arrived at the disturbance call.
