Maher: WNBA Players Target Caitlin Clark for Being White and Straight

The late-night TV host also claimed that both and sex race play their part after Clark was knocked to the ground by Chicago's Chennedy Carter.

'It’s (because) women are catty, the league is very lesbian and she’s not, and there’s race. There’s a lot going on,' Maher said following the incident, which sent shockwaves around the sporting world.

'There’s also a racial element to this... it’s not always racism when a white person succeeds.'

Well, maybe; I wouldn't doubt it. Occam's Razor could be applied to a simpler explanation -- envy. Clark has been enormously celebrated and is now the most famous player in the league as a rookie, with the possible exception of Brittany Griner. I'd bet that's creating a lot of resentment regardless of her race and orientation. Speaking of which, are we sure about the latter?

Update: Occam's Razor, not Hanlon's. Thanks to Johnny Alpha in the comments for a humorous correction.
