Today We Ponder What It Means to be Worthy

There is a circle of grass in this Westmoreland County neighborhood that has just enough room for a leafy maple tree to have flourished. Underneath it is a park bench and a picnic table that on most days serves as a perfect gathering place for the young families whose homes line this dead end street.

However, on every Memorial Day, this green space takes on a reflective mood when the Warner family, Pete and Emily and their two young daughters, begin the morning by setting up a Missing Man table in the grass.

It is a table no one is ever meant to sit at.

Today we honor the heroes that never made it back. It's okay to honor those who did come back today too, and to remind them of how much they are loved and appreciated. We can celebrate them more joyously in November on Veterans Day too, but we can also do that every day of the year.

We're blessed here to have two veterans working at Hot Air: Jazz Shaw and Beege Welborn. And we are honored to have Beege commemorating Memorial Day, too.
