Kelce on Butker: Great Guy, Great Teammate, Catholic. So?

When discussing the Chiefs kicking off OTAs this week, Kelce, 34, touched upon Butker, who has come under fire for comments made during his speech which touched upon a variety of topics including politics, religion and cultural issues.

“I’ve known him for seven-plus years, probably eight-plus years, and I cherish him as a teammate. I think [Chiefs quarterback] Pat [Mahomes] said it best, where he is every bit of a great person and a great teammate, he’s treated friends and family that I’ve introduced to him with nothing but respect and kindness, and that’s how he treats everyone,” the tight end said.

Yeah ... and? Why is this so problematic that every NFL player has to be asked about it and the NFL itself needs to issue a statement? Kelce has the right approach (and so did Andy Reid), but I'm curious as to why reporters aren't asking players and the league about players who have multiple children with multiple women, about players exploiting strippers at "gentlemen's clubs," and so on. Why is this curiosity only applied to Christian teachings on family life?
