Netanyahu Speech Splits Dems in Congress

Plans to invite Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress are being met with fierce pushback from Democrats.

Why it matters: Some top House Democrats are going so far as to say Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) should not sign onto the invitation.

  • House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Jim Himes (D-Conn.) said Netanyahu "should be focused on freeing hostages, not on charming legislators."

Really? Well, maybe American legislators should stop commenting on Netanyahu's actions and focus on their own jobs. Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi called for new elections in Israel to replace Netanyahu two months ago, Did Himes object to that at the time, or even now?

Democrats in Congress want to treat a sovereign ally like a puppet, and then get nervous when the puppet wants to rebut them. Too bad.
