Pelosi said she would prefer "separate town hall meetings" for the candidates instead of traditional debates, saying this would allow voters to "challenge them with questions about the future."

The town hall events won't cut the mustard for Biden any more. In the first place, those are generally too managed to be credible. But more to the real point, Biden's cratering poll numbers mean that voters have lost confidence in him. If he refuses to stand up to Donald Trump in a political debate, how can he claim to be able to stand up to America's enemies?

(Well, he can't, because he doesn't. But you get my drift.)
