Who Cares?

Only 64% of those surveyed report having a high level of interest in the upcoming November election, marking a decrease from previous years.

“Americans don’t agree on much these days, but nothing unites the country more than voters’ desire to tune this election out,” said Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt of Hart Research Associates, who conducted the poll along with Republican pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinion Strategies.

The decline is notable compared to the higher rates of interest shown at similar points in past presidential elections, with 74% in 2008, 67% in 2012, 69% in 2016, and an impressive 77% in 2020.

This is an NBC News poll, just for information's sake. It's a longitudinal poll, which means the trending is more interesting than any specific data point within it. One reason for a lack of enthusiasm is the match-up, which many voters claimed not to want while basically ensuring it happened anyway. The data seems to suggest what one would guess anyway -- that this is mainly going to damage Biden, since he's the current incumbent and deeply unpopular.
