Self-immolation is an act of personal insanity that speaks to nothing on whatever issue is in question. The same is true of whether or not one receives death threats for taking a public position, for that matter. Death threats are always wrong; they neither vindicate nor invalidate the policy question at hand. They are, in fact, non-sequiturs to rational debate.
