Rumors Swirl of a Chris Cuomo Comeback at CNN

A source told Page Six this week: “CNN insiders say there could be a deal to be made with Chris down the road — this is already being whispered about, and discussed quietly, but still unofficially.

“Management has changed, and CNN could be ready to move beyond the old issues, especially since they have not been able to replicate Chris’ success with their audience.”

The source also told us: “Although Chris isn’t talking about this openly . . . it’s generally accepted by his circle that he misses his old job, loves being on TV and making a difference on national topics of interest to everyone. He wants to be in Israel reporting on the war.”

Er .... maybe? This is a couple of days old, but I haven't seen any new reporting either way about this. If it's on the level, it will raise some eyebrows, considering why Cuomo got the axe. He was stretching the ethics fabric pretty thin by allowing his brother, then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo, to promote himself on CNN's air, and then it turned out that Cuomo was quietly helping Andrew to shape his PR campaign against accusations of sexual harassment and discrimination.

Cuomo's more talented than Don Lemon, but Lemon got fired for being dumb, not for making serious ethical violations. I'd guess that Lemon has a better shot at a CNN comeback under new management, even if Cuomo is a lot better at the job.
