Seems to Be Spreading: More and More German Residents Don't Feel Safe

According to the results of the INSA survey conducted for BILD, almost every second respondent (48%) does not feel safe on German streets, while 46% stated that they do not feel any danger.

66% of respondents agree with the statement that people in Germany are not adequately protected from crime.

Women feel more endangered than men (52% versus 43%), and residents of eastern Germany also feel more at risk than residents of western Germany (72% versus 64%).

Germany remains one of the safest countries in the world, ranking 15th (out of 163) in the well-known “Global Peace Index,” trailing only Finland and Croatia (with Iceland at the top). However, it is worth noting that Germany has indeed become less safe in recent years.
