Shock: Ireland PM Resigns for 'Personal and Political Reasons'

“I’m proud that we have made the country a more equal and more modern place,” he told reporters gathered outside government buildings in Dublin.

Sounding emotional, he said there was no “real reason” behind his decision and he "had nothing else lined up."

Yes, he does have a reason. He and his progressive establishment just got blindsided by a shocking loss on a constitutional referendum to redefine marriage, one they had assumed would sail through by wide margins. The Irish people appear to have had enough of the Brussels elite telling them how to live. Varadkar's departure is the result of that humiliation, and the Brussels-oriented elites in Dublin may be next.
