“We reaffirmed our conditions for a ceasefire: a full pullout from the Strip and the return of the displaced [Palestinians] from areas they left, in particular in the north,” he said.

Hamdan repeated his group’s conditions for a deal: An end to the Gaza war, a withdrawal of Israeli troops, and the return of displaced Palestinians to homes they have fled in other parts of the enclave.

Ahem. Hamas has never, and I mean NEVER, considered any cease-fire it signed to be "permanent." If Israel agreed to this, Hamas would eventually conduct another October 7 massacre as soon as they felt strong enough tpo pull it off, and they'd be launching missiles within a week.

Enough of this nonsense. The US government should declare the talks at an end and affirm Israel's right to finish the war that the Gazans started, and tell the Gazans that they have a choice to capitulate or to face the consequences.
