"Well, I hope to be, and I’m going to do everything I can to convince my colleagues," he told KELO-TV, when asked if he plans to become Senate leader. "They're the voters. They're the ones who ultimately make the decision."

I like all three of the "Three Johns" rumored to be considering bids, the other two being Cornyn and Barrasso. All three are experienced in leadership positions, and all three are reliable -- although some Second Amendment groups oppose Cornyn over his earlier support for the compromise gun-control bill in 2021. It'll probably be Thune and Cornyn; I'd bet that Barrasso will aim for party whip in the end.
