New CBS Poll in SC Pretty Much What You'd Expect

With the state's Republican primary less than two weeks away, 65% of registered Republican voters in South Carolina say they favor former President Donald Trump and 30% support Nikki Haley, according to a CBS News/YouGov poll. ...

  • 60% say they approve of the job Haley did as governor of South Carolina, while 22% say they disapproved; 17% were not sure.
  • 82% say they approved of the job Trump did as president, while 15% say they disapproved; 3% were not sure.

Newsmax appears to describe the sample incorrectly; they claim it's 483 registered voters. The sample was 1,483 RVs in primary voting, but the results come from 1,004 likely voters, as CBS News reports it. Not that it makes much difference with a 35-point gap in a two-person race. What seems telling is how little interest pollsters have had in the SC Republican primary. This poll shows the same result as the RCP overall average of what polling does exist.
