How I Got Kicked Out of a Mothers Against Anti-Semitism Group

I had been thinking about the corruption of Reform and Conservative Judaism, by rabbis forcing their leftist politics into our religion and turning services into political movements, for years but October 7th exposed just what a terrible mistake that had been and they needed a sharp calling out. The article I wrote about it took me a month to write. I wanted it to be perfect. You can read it here: https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2024/01/22/leave_the_pews_150355.html

Right at the top I made the point that a well-intentioned Facebook group, Mothers Against College Antisemitism, or MACA, formed in the wake of the post-Oct 7, pro-Hamas frenzy on college campuses, was suffering from the same problem of politics: their allies hate them and their only friends are the conservatives they so loathe.

The founder of MACA, Elizabeth Rand, did…not take it well.

[This is a very sad reminder that people’s choices reveal their priorities. The good news in this case is that this seems to be more about the founder than the rank-and-file of MACA. which roundly supported Karol and criticized Rand — so much so, apparently, that Rand took down Karol’s RCP article in the group page. All of this just serves to demonstrate Karol’s point, but I also think it shows that there is hope in constructive engagement, especially in this crisis moment. — Ed]
