During an interview with CNN’s “State of the Union,” the moderate Republican said he thinks Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is “headed in the wrong direction,” while Haley has “the momentum” in the race.
“I think it’s time for the party to get behind Nikki Haley,” Hogan said.
[I somehow doubt this will help unite Republicans behind Haley. It’s akin to winning the Lincoln Project endorsement, only without the nastiness. Hogan was a good governor in Maryland and the most conservative politician who could have won statewide there, but he’s not an influential figure among either movement conservatives or MAGA voters. Even those who want Trump would admit that DeSantis has gone in the “right direction” far more than Hogan and Haley ever did, as governors. — Ed]
